A teofania no pensamento de Scoto Eriúgena

Abstract

O presente artigo traz algumas considerações sobre a teofania, a manifestação de Deus no pensamento de Eriúgena, pensador irlandês do século IX. O objetivo do artigo é mostrar que o Deus de Eriúgena é um princípio incompreensível ao intelecto humano e que desenvolve a totalidade de suas consequências a fim de nelas se revelar. Neste contexto, a teofania é um vínculo que totaliza a realidade e articula suas diferenças. Ela também é um acidente que denuncia a origem divina das criaturas e garante o surgimento, a manutenção e a reprodução de qualquer criatura.
